Checklist

Checklist when buying a wood stove:

- Is the stove approved to the new the eco label (EN) as per 1 June 2008?

- Does the stove have the Swan Eco-label and therefore meet the strict requirements
  for environmentally-friendly combustion?

- Is the stove made from cast iron or plate iron?

- Can the stove be connected at the top and at the rear?

- Does the stove have an airwash system to keep the glass clean?

- Does the stove have a long lifetime?

- For how many years are you guaranteed spare parts?

Connection to the chimney:

1)  The existing brick chimney has to be used.

    - Bring a drawing of the installation area at home with you – that way, the sales agent can
help with the distances from flammable material and the actual positioning.

    - Measure the internal diameter of the existing chimney – we recommend a diameter of
15-16 cm for a good draw. For larger diameter, an insulating liner should be installed.

    - If the existing flue hole on the chimney has to be used: Measure the distance from the
floor up to the middle of the hole on the chimney and measure the diameter of the hole
you and the sales agent can then calculate your new flue.

2) If you have to buy a chimney with the stove – the stove sales agent will have to use the
following measurements and data to calculate the chimney modules.

- The distance from the middle of the house to the inner wall.
- The distance from the middle of the house to the eaves.
- The height from the floor to the ceiling at the outer wall.
- The height from the floor to the roof ridge.
- For pitched roofs: The height from the floor to the highest point of the ceiling.
- The distance from the inner wall to the middle of the stove.
- Roof type.
